A home for clubs

As Director of Clubs, I have spent the past year supporting the activities of over 300 student clubs. In that time, I have been privileged to witness the incredible work they do every day to make the Queen’s Experience more than just a degree.

But we have a problem. Right now, we are only able to provide desperately-needed space for fewer than 1 in 3 of our clubs, and the biggest reason is the JDUC. It was intended to be the heart of student life, but it was last expanded in 1974 to serve a student population of only 10,000. 45 years later, it has fallen far behind our modern needs. We need to do better.

That’s why I’ll be voting YES in the JDUC redevelopment referendum on January 17th and 18th. The new JDUC will more than triple the amount of club space in the building and allow clubs to continue growing and thriving.

But there’s much more to the project than that, including vastly increased study space, a new wellness hub, and important improvements to accessibility and affordability. So please remember to vote tomorrow and Friday by checking your QueensU email.
